The Appeal
Dodge’s Charger will be familiar to those of a certain age who spent Saturday early evenings watching a red one jumping creeks whilst being hotly pursued by ‘the law.’ Later third generation cars did less jumping but kept the same sleek look with an updated ‘fuselage’ style.
Like all early 70s Detroit muscle it was possible to personalise your Series 3 Charger any which way. Top of the extra-cost tree was the ‘SE Brougham’ package which added the iconic hidden lights, a wider C pillar, tiny quarter light and vinyl roof. Inside there were rally gauges and luxury high back seats.
This 318CI (5.2L) V8 ‘72 has all those features and more. The original bill of sale shows the first buyer also added tinted glass, radio, sports mirrors and even an electric clock. Later owners have refined the style with a set of smart American Racing alloys with polished rims.
They complete the sense of a very well looked after car finished in menacing black. UK registered with its single UK keeper, it is a very tempting and factory-original example of an increasingly rare muscle car.
