The Appeal
Having played second fiddle to Rolls-Royce for far too long, Bentley was determined to turn a page under Vickers ownership. Harking back to the hallowed Cricklewood days, the Turbo R was finally another Bentley aimed at owner-drivers. It recaptured the roguish spirit of the 'Bentley Boys' and a subsequent hike in sales likely saved the brand, bolstering Bentley's appeal to its next parent company, Volkswagen.
This 1993 example has covered very few miles and the vendor acquired it from the original owner. In around 2009, the Bentley was put into storage as the owner intended to spend more of their time in Barbados. It would remain in dry storage for twelve years and it was in this state that the vendor bought the car in march 2023. After significant recommissioning with the aid of a classic car consultant, it's now in very good driving order in readiness for its next custodian.
The Turbo R has been enjoyed for two summers by its current owner, a member of the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts' Club and serial classic Bentley buyer. With an impressive service record before and after its period of storage, and copious recent work to ensure its mechanical integrity, this low mileage, two-keeper Bentley Bentley offers a compelling opportunity.
