Description
Jaguar XJC 5. 3 Convertible 1974
Exhibition vehicle at the Auto Show in Turin / Italy
The only left-handed Jaguar 12-cylinder XJ convertible in the world
History:
The Jaguar XJC 5. 3 cabriolet was originally produced as a coupe at Jaguar on 29. 8. 74 under the chassis no. 2G 50010 BW. This Jaguar was then delivered directly to AVON-STEVENS in Warwick, one of the most prestigious bodywork companies in England. AVON-STEVENS was consulted in case of special Jaguar constructions, both for special bodies as well as for racing. The aim was to produce a competitive convertible to test the reaction of the noble customers.
The car presented at the "Salone dell'automobile di Torino" 1976 was a success and sold to an Italian collector. This triggered further orders in England, Scotland, Australia and Hong Kong despite the relatively high sales price, so that another 11 right-steered 12-cylinder convertibles at AVON STEVENS emerged. Even a separate brochure has been published for this perfectly shaped convertible
Chassis No. 2G 50010 BW remained the only left-hand drive 12-cylinder convertible ever built and was registered in Rome under number Roma 50777D. In the 90s, this unique convertible succeeded to its 2nd owner
Careful cared and maintained.
