Description:
BMW 700 was conceptualized by Austria’s distributor Wolfgang Denzel, engineered by Willy Black and designed by Giovanni Michelotti. It featured a steel monocoque chassis and a developed version of the R67 twin cylinder flat motorcycle engine. Its success was unparalleled and became the reason BMW regained financial prosperity. Halfway through the 5 year production, the saloon edition received more passenger room in the LS Luxus version via a 16cm chassis elongation. Moreover, the engine’s intake valves were enlarged permitting for a 32bhp output.
The LS Luxus featured here was produced late in the series in Chamonix White with Schwarz interior and dispatched to Greece to be delivered as a surprise gift to newlyweds. In full appreciation and enthusiasm to the brand, the owners provided the outmost of care to the car. Throughout 55 years of ownership, they paid special emphasis on preserving the car’s originality and maintained all manuals, documents and tools. The time has now come for their work to be continued by another BMW enthusiast who will take over caring for this beloved automobile.
