Description
1935 Moto Guzzi 500s. project bike.
Rare pre-war machine in extremely solid condition.
Partially restored with much of the hard and dirty work done.
It has been stripped, blast cleaned and painted in acid etch primer.
The finished colour on the tank and mudguards has had two coats and is ready for final prep and painting
the frame has been final gloss painted.
The tin work is in very solid condition for an 85 year old and are prepared and painted (again topcoat to be finalised.)
The wheels have been fully rebuilt with new bearings, Devon stainless rims (to the correct original pattern) , stainless spokes, new tapes, tubes and tyres .
The magneto has been rewound and fully rebuilt and generates a healty spark.
It will need a deal of further work including a full engine rebuild and some replacement parts.
These include carb, exhaust silencer, headlight glass, tail light etc.
Engine is currently loosely assembled and sitting in the frame.
it will need bottom end rebuild with replacement roller bearings .
The barrel/ piston/ cylinder head are all good and useable "as is".
All parts are readily available from specialist suppliers/ ebay. it and bearings off the shelf at good suppliers.
It has a modern V5c. in my name and a dating letter from the Moto Guzzi owners club.
It will be a great project that deserves a quality rebuild.
Serious and beautiful pre war motorcycle.
Pre-war Italian machinery is getting scarce now.
These bikes will become increasingly hard to find, rare and valuable.
