Description
1 previous owner and correctly registered on V5, Chassis number 11193 1st registered 18/ 03/ 1961 as UNJ203 (which it still wears). The work of one man's passion over 40+ years, 1998cc Triumph Dolomite Sprint 16v engine (twin Su's), Gt6 gearbox (with O. drive on 2nd, 3rd, 4th) & Mk2 Escort LSD rear axle. Making for a rapid Historic sports special that has been a very competitive car & has been thoughtfully developed over a long period of ownership. I would estimate less than 700Kgs with more than 125Bhp so "fairly lively" even by modern standards. Between Dec 1967 -Jul 2015 it competed in 100 events including 57 Autotests, 2 Autocrosses, 6 Hill Climbs, 33 Sprints & 2 Autosolo's, racking up an impressive tally of 8 FTD's, 36 1st's, 17 2nd's & 14 3rd's (65 Podiums!). Extensively restored & rebuilt between 2008-2011. When given a slightly more road focus including a custom made hood, ducted/ electric fan cooled custom radiator, high back sports seats, and inertia belts. 2 Autosolo events were completed after this rebuild resulting in a 1st & an FTD at Gaydon 2014 & 2015 proving the Fairthorpe was still competitive. A real labour of love, retains a desirable patina of use, age & competition but is mechanically perfect and well resolved. Very clean chassis, suspension & under bonnet etc with items powder coated or painted to a high standard. strong brakes (discs/ drums with separate M/ c's) and smooth quite gearbox, O/ drive and axle. Minimal mileage since restoration and was MOT'd annually up to March 19 even though not required as it has "Historic" DVLA status. I am rurally located with large inside/ outside viewing space so viewings are not a problem with suitable notice. Complete with all documents, a lovely accurate written history. dvd of photos, supporting paperwork etc. It would not take much at all to return the Fairthorpe to circuit duties making a very cost effective & unique Historic racer with a proven competition history.
