Description
Moto Guzzi GT17
The Moto Guzzi GT 17 was mainly produced for the Italian military from 1932 to 1939. A total of 4, 810 vehicles were built. Much were used in the Abyssinia War (1935-1936). Due to its reliability and the rear suspension, it was considered the most suitable motorcycle of the Italian troops. The engine is the legendary, variable-speed engine that was also installed in the Sport 14, Sport 15 and GT 16 models. In contrast to the GT 16, the GT17 had a longer trapezoidal fork and thus more ground clearance. Only a few GT 17 survived the war and the years after. The GT 17 is a very rare model today.
The GT17 offered here was probably registered as a civilian after the war and was then given the typical Guzzi paintwork and chrome. Today the GT 17 impresses with a wonderful patina.
The engine runs smoothly and everything works as it should. As a special feature, this engine has an encapsulated exhaust valve. A construction by Luigi Parena "Testa Velox" from Turin.
