The Starlet was introduced in 1973 as the successor to Puplica, a Japanese government vehicle designed to serve the people. The P60 Series was introduced 5 years later and featured a K-series 4-cylinder engine hence the KP60 designation. Unlike most hatchbacks of the era, it retained the more expensive yet more thrilling rear wheel drive layout. Its driving experience was further enhanced by a responsive rack and pinion steering, effective disc brakes at the front, MacPherson struts at the front, 4-link rear axle at the rear and coil springs all round. In 1980 it received a facelift to 'de rigeor' square headlights and in 1984 the rear wheel drive layout was dropped rendering the KP60 the most desireable version.
The KP60 offered here was imported in Greece in 1981 to be registered to a couple that was to own it for the next 3 decades. In 2012 it was acquired by a marque specialist who appreciated the astoundingly preserved authenticity. Its rather tired condition necessitated a thorough cosmetic, mechanical and underside restoration that was soon awarded an A/ 3 FIVA standing with 'Excellent Original Condition' remarks. It is now offered fully maintained with minimum mileage for preservation purposes.
