Description
1958 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1
Chassis number: SHF149
Registration number: 405XVS
Chassis up & body off restored. This car was discovered in the garage of the late first owner where it had been laid up for over 20 years after he stopped driving & had covered just 26, 000 miles from new whilst the interior remained as a time warp. The car was completley solid but with brakes seized on & paint in poor condition.
The previous owner was searching for such a car, purchasing it immediately & then embarked upon a body off restoration from the ground up. A complete photographic record of the works undertaken comes with the car including photographs of the bare chassis in excellent condition with the body off it. Untold amounts of money have been spent upon it & were it totalled would equate to far more then the asking price.
This Rolls Royce Silver Cloud 1 is finished in shell grey over velvet green the latter of which is sufficiently dark to appear as black in some lighting conditions. The chassis was stripped & painted with new nuts bolts & hardware fitted prior to the body being put back on the car. Pleasingly the original leather & woodwork was retained as it was in fine order given the low recorded miles when found. All brakes & other mechanical items have been attended to & new leather gaiters fitted to the springs etc.
To the interior is original grey leather throughout. Walnut picnic tables were fitted from new in the Backs of the front seats. Marechal parking lamps are fitted to the door posts. An original 1958 Tax disc adorns the windshield. The boot floor is prisine & has all its tools in place including the original Jack with its original sticker intact. This is a power steering car making for easy driving.
Needless to say, the car is pristine & about as good as one might find. Under the bonnet the engine bay is like new & the engine runs in complete silence. The car as a whole has a tight taut feel to it that one only finds on these low mileage examples. This is a power steering car making it easy to drive & effortless to steer.
After restoration a couple of years ago the car was shown at the RREC annual rally where it won prizes attesting to the quality of the work undertaken. The car has just been sent to Marque specialists Classic Restoration services of Chichester who are giving the car a service & a full & thorough check over so the car will be absolutley ready for extended use by the next owner.
Current miles are just under 29, 000 but this will increase somewhat as I plan to use it for occasional dry weekends etc until it is sold. High praise indeed as I have so many cars to chosse from. If you are looking for the best in Silver Clouds with low miles & in like new condition, this one is wellworth a look.
