This 1974 Bultaco Sherpa T 250 is a true piece of trials motorcycle history. Featuring twin shocks and Renthal handlebars, this bike has been dry-stored since new and boasts matching numbers (model #124).
What makes this bike truly special is its provenance. This was the trials bike of Renee Bennett, the "East London Lady Trials Rider," who owned and rode it regularly in competitions in the South Eastern Centre, winning many medals. Renee was also an international trials rider in the 1960s/ 70s and ran the annual Renee Bennett Sunbeam Novice Trial, supporting young talent with signed certificates. She ran five Howard Powell Motorcycles shops with her husband, specialising in the sale of Triumph, BSA, James, Ariel, and more. In addition, Renee became a model in the 70s and appeared in films and TV series.
This bike has been lovingly maintained and updated with a carb and jets cleaning, points cleaning, stand repair, new fuel filter, new front brake shoes, fuel tank cleaning, fresh fuel, and oil change. It now runs very well.
One of the key features of the Sherpa T 250 is its two-stroke engine, which delivers a smooth and responsive power band for precise control in technical sections. The bike also features a traditional twin-shock suspension system, which provides excellent traction and stability on rough terrain.
Over the years, the Sherpa T 250 has become a beloved classic motorcycle among trials enthusiasts, and many riders still use them today for vintage trials competitions and recreational riding. Its timeless design and legendary performance continue to inspire riders of all levels and backgrounds.
Collection from Southend, Essex or delivery available nationwide. Any questions welcome. Detailed written receipt provided, as well as high-quality copies of the two photographs of Renee on this bike for historical significance.
