Description
Mini Classic Knightsbridge – LIKE NO OTHER! - With just 2871 kilometers.
History File – This exquisite little car boasts two rather fanatical owners: The comprehensive history file includes the cars original German Purchase Order from October 2000, supplied by Rover/ MG/ Land-Rover dealer F. J. Kempen in Cologne, for a total of €25, 800. From there, the car would be preserved in a Perma-Bag, only emerging on a couple of occasions for some routine maintenance. Finding its second owner in 2007, it would then embark on a venture like no other, to finally appear as the stunning collector’s piece we see today. An incredible amount of money has been spent on the car which we will attempt to list below but, it goes without saying, that with just 2871 kilometers, it has been treated with the utmost care which was kick-started with a cool €1500 recommissioning process. Plenty of TÜV confirmations from 2007 onwards confirm the second owner’s utter commitment. Used only on fine weather days, the huge amount of money spent, corroborate his passionate ownership. The car comes with its original Mini brochure which is so quirky it’s quite ridiculous and two sets of keys with two remotes for the factory immobiliser. Make no mistake, this is a real collectors piece and simply cannot be compared to anything like it!
Exterior – The head turning colour is Sienna Gold Pearlescent and the code is GUF. An over critical and experienced eye will possibly spot a little extra paint on the drivers front wing which was done following a scratch but, importantly, the wing was not replaced. Such was the level of care; one can also spot tiny areas of paint at the bottom of both sills following preservation work. But it must be emphasised that the overall styling is breathtaking: the second owner was keen on chrome, and detail for that matter, and subsequently changed the standard black wipers and washer equipment, along with the side indicators to white glass elements. In contrast, the rear light clusters have also been changed to darkened glass elements. A whopping €600 was spent on the cars additional front fog lights and chrome fittings, with the somewhat boring standard mirrors also being replaced with more chrome and discrete bullet style accessories. In terms of factory options, the chosen electric folding sliding roof was a wise move by the original owner.
Interior – The interior is Alpaca Stone Beige in colour, including the quality carpeting, but the whole cabin is dominated by replacement (exact matching factory leather) bucket style seats with matching head restraints and contrasting dark red piping. Continuing with the obsessive detail, lengthened seat rails have been fitted to accommodate a taller person. A prominent walnut dashboard encases classy white dials with chrome surrounds and a Blaupunkt single CD/ radio, with accessories continuing to the gear knob, handbrake handle and chrome polished Fire extinguisher. Let the light in with the factory fitted electric folding sliding roof and it adds a whole new dynamique to the car. It’s a gorgeous cabin and has to be seen to be really appreciated.
Engine & Transmission – Standard factory power is a 13i engine with 46 kw (63 ps) but, the second owner has invested nicely to the tune of €2000 and increased engine power to 96 ps including an oil cooler (with radiator and thermostat), all supplied and fitted by Minispeed in 47918 Tönisvorst in Germany. Coupled with a stainless steel Sport exhaust system with double rear-pipes and Maiflow Big Bore Sports gear shift, the result is astonishing and it’s immaculately presented under the bonnet with a new cylinder head rocker cover.
Wheels, Tyres & Brakes – The standard factory offered 13” Minilite, light allow wheels are covered in superb Dunlop 175/ 50 R13 tyres. Front axle 10” ventilated disc brakes with adjustable support arms and tie rods are combined with the rear axle widened by approx. 2. 5 cm. All round adjustable height shock absorbers add to the whole exciting package but, it’s a fine balance between looking incredible and potentially being too low for today’s driving. So, some cautious driving – if you can – as advised
