Description
1941 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible
Chassis number: 8352980
Registration Number: 643UYX
Imported in 2012 by the current owner who has used it very sparingly keeping it well maintained but little used in his small private collection. The car prior to that had resided in a collection in Beverly Hills California.
This is a museum quality car in perfect condition. Massive restoration bills come with the car as does a photographic record of the engine rebuild to as new spec since when it has covered but few miles.
The paint is flawless Deep black gloss with red interior. A black mohair roof which glides up & down at the touch of a button, completes the ensemble. This is a car ready to be taken to shows with an immaculate engine bay & little you might fault it on. The big 346 CI V8 engine engine starts instantly & is surprisingly powerful giving a good turn of performance in modern day traffic. It makes it a dream to drive allied to its ultra smooth suspension & ride characteristics. You really have to drive one of these big American cars to appreciate how advanced they are for their time.
Unusually, the car is fitted with factory supplied chrome trimmed running boards, an option rarely seen on these. Just 3100 examples were made & few remain today. This is a car perfectly proportioned for its size & having all the right shapes from the Extended fenders, gorgeous expansive grille, tasteful bonnet vents, elegant side trim down to the rear wheel spats.
The car currently resides in Edinburgh where it may be viewed by appointment. Take the Caledonian sleeper up there & drive it home?
