1958 Honda Benly JC58
A time warp JC58, Japanese Domestic Market only, this bike was imported a few years ago from France, no knowledge of its previous history. Registered to me on a V5 and has a letter from the VJMC to DVLA confirming the frame and engine number, that they are genuine and its year of manufacture was 1958 as a JDM machine.
I bought the bike this summer as a non runner, it now runs, rides, engine is sound and the three gears all work. Brakes all sorted, some expensive new rubber parts fitted, to make tidy, indicator mounts, air intake tube, foot peg rubbers and new indicator diffusers now fitted along with Cush drive rubbers. I intended to restore or part restore keeping it’s patina and have prices for chrome etc, probably needs valves sorting as its low on power, but still runs nicely, hooter restored to working condition, everything now works. I was going to give the engine a strip and overhaul over winter but having just finished a full resto and bought another bike, I’m short of storage space, so it has to go. There is currently a similar one for sale in Japan at £6800 plus £1500 to import plus tax / duties etc. the current price for A1 is £16900. 00 which I think is too high, but there’s still money to be made.
