As the first vehicle produced by Tesla, the success of the Roadster would allow Elon Musk to master his plan and create the world’s most valuable car manufacturer.
Entrusting the creative skills of Lotus engineers for its body, chassis and handling characteristics, production of the Roadster totalled 2, 450 examples sold in over thirty countries between 2008 and 2012. A decade later, the original Roadster is now regarded as a genuine ‘classic electric car’ and ahead of Tesla launching their highly anticipated second generation Roadster, values and interest in these original versions have continued to rise and show no signs of slowing.
As one of two examples ordered and specified by the current owner direct from Tesla HQ, VIN48 was registered in 2009 as the sixth Roadster to arrive in the UK. Finished in Glacier Blue metallic paintwork with black leather and Alcantara interior, this low mileage Signature 250 has completed just over 11, 000 miles with its one and only keeper.
A host of specified options include the exposed carbon fibre removable hard-top together with carbon fibre front and rear spoilers, bonnet blades, rear diffuser and roll hoop. Further enhancements include the rear parking camera, Apple Car Play and heated seats. The recommended AP brake upgrade to discs and 4-pot calipers has also been carried out to ensure the stopping performance matches the Roadsters incredible acceleration.
With a full service and MOT having just been completed, total maintenance and care have ensured the car remains in excellent condition throughout. The battery life and its range are both superb and as part of the recent service, the Power Electronics Module has also been repaired and upgraded.
