M. M - Mario Mazzetti(1895-1964) founded Fabbrica Motociclette Brevetti M. M. in 1924, in partnership with Alfonso Morini and two financiers. He was its heart and mind, with his inventiveness and design skills that over the years led him to produce motorbikes appreciated for their technical characteristics and construction materials, as well as their elegance.
In the 1920s and 1930s M. M.'s commercial fortunes had been boosted by numerous sporting successes in the most prestigious competitions in Italy and Europe, with the conquest of championships, both domestic and foreign, and world speed records. Production had been transferred in 1931 from Via Serlio to Via Calvart, in a new factory that, on the eve of World War II, employed around 60 people.
The restrictions of the wartime economy in the 1940s had halted the development of the company, which had turned its attention to the fledgling motorcar sector. In the post-war period, despite the very serious damage suffered in the bombing of 1944, M. M. had found the strength to recover by immediately presenting new motorbikes in the classic 350 and 500 cc displacements, later also 250 and finally 125 cc. Serious administrative and management problems had, however, caused its decline, leading to its closure in 1958.
