Description
An excellent and very original 110bhp 1608 BC in dark Blue with red. First registered in Vicenza on the the 23 of March 1971.
The Fiat 124 coupe and spider where introduced in 1967 with a 90hp 1. 4 litre twin cam engine, the first car in fact to receive the now legendary Aurelio Lampredi Twin Cam motor that went on to power the Lancia Delta Intergrale and 600bhp S4 among others. It had disc brakes all round, a 5 speed gearbox and double wishbone front suspension. The two cars received universal praise as a nimble fun to drive sports cars, the only real criticism being that they were slightly under powered. In answer to this the ?B? or second series car was introduced with a 110 bhp high compression (9. 8 to 1) twin dual carburettored 1608cc engine as well as the original, albeit updated 1. 4. It also received a face lift so that it greatly resembled the front of the Fiat Dino coupe. The 1608 and 1438 engines were dropped in favour of 1592 cc and 1756cc units from the 125 for the 3rd series and the twin dual carburettors replaced by a single twin choke down draught.
These are greatly underrated cars that are fantastic to drive, very much like a more resolved Alfa 105 coupe at half the price. Light precise steering, sublime gear change crisp engine note, powerful dual circuit disc brakes, a car that can be steered with your right foot.
Much recent work to bring it up to scratch, new diff and gearbox bearings, all flexible brake hoses, rear shock absorbers all front bushes, two ball joints and all ball joint rubber gaitors. Enamelled wishbones under tray and fan shroud new cambelt and full service engine oil changed several times. Just a cracking drive.
Shown with 14" Campagnola magnesium alloy wheels in photo 3, avaiable separately.
