Description
With the Bentley S 2 the V8 engine was introduced in November 1959, which was installed in the Bentley S 3 from autumn 1962. The crowning glory were the sporty Continental models, which were available with bodies by Mulliner Park Ward as limousins, coupés and Continental convertibles. What they all had in common were the slanted double headlights (“Chinese Eyes”). The S 3 series was pure luxury. Only 25 left-hand drive Continental convertibles were built.
Therefore our Bentley S 3 Continental Cabriolet is extremely rare. Mr. Jose J. Caloillo in Michigan received it as first owner in May 1963, after the ship freight from London had arrived in New York. From 1999 to 2000, the then German owner had it extensively restored. There are six known owners in the classic’s long history. There is an valuation report from 2022 with a grade 2, which is justified because a northern German Bentley specialist has always carefully maintained the convertible. This rare Bentley classic car crowns a collection and can and should be driven regularly.
