Description
This stunning MGA has a comprehensive history and has been fully restored and enhanced by marque specialists. Like most of the Twin Cams built it was shipped to the US when new. Leading MGA specialist Bob West repatriated the car in 1990 and it remained in unrestored condition until acquired by Mark Hester (the chairman of the MGA Twin Cam group) in 2012.
Mark undertook a comprehensive rebuild of the car. The chassis was sent back to Bob West for re-jigging and the body was rebuilt in RHD form using as much of the old panels as possible. The car was painted using Bob’s preferred paint shop. As the original engine was missing Mark built a replacement which utilised an original twin cam head mated to a rebored MGB block. The resultant 1900cc motor is both stronger (being 5 bearing) and more powerful than the standard item, whilst being visually identical.
The history file includes a full record of ownership from 1968, including photos from and correspondence with early owners in the USA, import documentation and a Heritage Certificate. There is also a photographic record of the restoration work carried out.
The current owner purchased the MGA from Mark Hester in 2015 and it featured in the Twin Cam Group’s 60th Anniversary in 2018 and won a Best MGA concours award in 2022. It is now offered for sale because the owner needs to trim back his collection.
Complete with an immaculate hood, tonneau and running spares, freshly tuned and superb to drive this exceptional Twin Cam must be one of the best currently available.
