Description
With the V8, Aston Martin bade farewell to the classic, Carrozzeria Touring-designed shapes of the DB4, 5, and 6. Sharper lines more in keeping with the 1970s and modern technologies were intended to keep Aston Martin at the top of the luxury sports car segment. Aston Martin developed the car with the idea of using an eight-cylinder engine, but initially, it featured the familiar DB6 four-litre six-cylinder engine, albeit in slightly tuned compared to the DBS. Two years after its introduction, the 5, 340 cc V8 engine with 324 hp and 450 Nm of torque made its appearance, making it a very powerful motor. From mid-1972, the DBS V8 was simply referred to as ?V8,? and in 1973, Aston Martin introduced the ?Series 3.? It was equipped with four Weber carburettors, which necessitated a higher bonnet.
The version we are offering here is such a Series 3, in a fresh and, above all, very original condition, with a neat medium gray paint. It complements very well with the black leather upholstery. Three noteworthy features of the car are the manual transmission, the aforementioned carburettors, and the fact that it is a ?left-hand drive.?
Our Aston Martin makes a very fresh impression; the paintwork has a beautiful luster and is essentially free from any signs of use. The brightwork stands out with a wonderful gleam, and the rubber components are all in a very fresh state, free from any cracks due to drying out. The design of the V8 is beautiful, with its long bonnet, narrow window pillars, and smoothly sloping rear end. It?s fundamentally a timeless design that never fades.
Upon opening the door, its British character is immediately evident. Elegant black leather, beautiful gauges and controls, and finely finished door panels and clean carpeting. The interior is in a healthy condition but still manages to show its age in a charming way. It exudes the right Aston Martin atmosphere . Speaking of atmosphere, the V8 comes equipped with factory-installed air conditioning, which is a very pleasant feature. In the center console, you?ll also notice the controls for the sought-after and popular manual transmission. It ensures that the Aston Martin is perfectly capable of enticing the driver into a very sporty driving style. And once you unleash the power of the V8, you probably won?t want anything else, just like us.
While driving, it?s evident that the V8 is a superb car, a powerhouse capable of many feats yet also capable of being driven with restraint. The car feels robust; nothing is excessively light or delicate. It?s an automobile that invites you to embark on long journeys with a smile from ear to ear. The technology in this car is excellent and has been recently updated, so this Englishman will certainly not give rise to any hinder on those long journeys.
All in all, this is a delightful and fine Aston Martin V8. We probably don?t need to tell you that turning the key and listening to the beautifully sounding V8 engine will convince you, right?
