First owner the famous Emilio Giletti:
Emilio Giletti entered 25 races between 1951 and 1955, racing mainly in Ferrari and Maserati cars. In 1953, his big break came when Maserati decided to offer three young drivers the chance to drive their sports cars: Emilio was chosen together with Luigi Musso and Sergio Mantovani. With the Officine Alfieri Maserati team he achieved his greatest victory, winning the first class prize and 6th place overall at the 1953 Mille Miglia.
Maserati A6GCS at Mille Miglia 1953, driven by Emilio Giletti and Guerino Bertocchi in 6th place overall (1st place in class)
During this period he achieved some successes, including extra-championship victory in the 1952 Trofeo Sardo and finishing on the podium in the 1953 Targa Florio. Giletti raced in just one Formula 1 race, at the 1953 Modena Grand Prix, but retired with valve failure in his Maserati A6GCM. He was also entered in the 1954 Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina, but then Maserati gave the drive to Musso.
FANGIO'S FIEND, Giletti said in a interview: "At the Syracuse GP I was going faster by a second per lap. I took a full turn in the middle of a curve that the Sicilians had renamed the 'Cemetery'. Fangio wanted us to go for a lap of the track on foot and that I tell him at every point which gear I put in and where I braked. He was one of the few who was fast both on circuits and in road racing. A great connoisseur of mechanics. He tested four cars, then at the end of the day he said 'put that engine on on this chassis". And the others had the cart. It happened to me in the GP of Modena in F. 2, so much so that the car stopped after a few laps. But in general he wasn't jealous. In the free practice sessions at Monza, where I was a reserve, he explained to me how I had to tackle the Lesmo curve, which at the time was in full swing after the straight, at 230 km/ h. 'Go in decisively and put the wheels where I put them'. But my favorite terrain was definitely the roads of the Targa Florio , with mud and rain, or the Passo della Futa-Raticosa and Radicofani at the Mille Miglia, where you risked because of the narrow and hard tires like wood".
It is no coincidence that in 1961 Fangio and Giletti owned two Maserati 3500 GTs.
The Fangio car has been sold by private sale after the price has been estimated in the auction between 475000 - 575000 euro-
