1973 Datsun 260Z // UK-supplied RHD // Manual Transmission // Factory Spec & Correct Colour // Pacific Blue Metallic // Matching Numbers // Amazing Restoration // Large History & Provenance
If you’re looking for the best Datsun 260z on the market, then congratulations, you have found it. There are so many remarkable things to say about this 260z and we will be glad to share to them with you - it really is that good!
Supplied new to the UK in 1974 as a genuine right-hand drive manual, this very early 260z is an extremely rare car to see on the road today. Especially with it having matching numbers and presented in its factory specification and colour, following a beautiful nut and bolt restoration.
Ward & Thompson Motors had the pleasure of delivering it to the first owner in September 1974 and was registered on VKX 260N which it still wears today. As you can see from our photos, the original service book confirms the registration number, manual transmission and was finished in 307 Blue.
The supplying dealer looked after the car incredibly well in its early years with 6 services recorded in the first 2 years – all of which are stamped in the original service book and come with an invoice too. It then had a further 11 services recorded in the book up to 1999.
On top of this we have supporting invoices for these services and many more receipts and invoices for parts and servicing at Nissan dealers, Toyota dealers and various other independent garages over the years. The history and provenance are consistent with no lengthy gaps whatsoever and has been arranged in date order for any potential buyers to easily read through.
More recently the car has been the subject of an immaculate, authentic restoration retaining as much originality and period correctness as possible. The only thing we could fault was an incorrect steering wheel. However, since taking the car in, we have tracked down an original steering wheel to finish the job.
The Pacific Blue Metallic paintwork is wonderful, and the black interior and factory wheels all look amazing too. Impressively, it still has the original engine fitted, which has been refurbished. We can also see all the glass across the car has the original registration number etched into it which is great to see.
All in all this is an opportunity not to be missed. I doubt we’ll ever see another Datsun as good as this one. In terms of originality, presentation and history, it is unrivalled.
We highly recommend popping down to see the car. It is offered with a oil service, 6-month warranty and can be delivered in an enclosed trailer for an additional fee.
Our asking price is reflective of the considerable competition we faced when trying to buy this car.
