Description
Timeless elegance was the perfect description of the appearance of the new Mercedes-Benz 220 S Convertible. As the self-supporting body required reinforcements in the floor assembly, the dream car only came onto the market from July 1956, somewhat later than the limousine. At DM 21, 500, the Convertible cost considerably more than the limousine, which was available for DM 12, 500. The intention was to keep it to an exclusive, largely hand-built small series. While these convertibles were already coveted by collectors as new vehicles, they are now very rare as perfectly restored examples like our classic car.
Our Mercedes-Benz 220 S convertible was delivered by the Daimler-Benz branch in Nuremberg on 18 December 1958 and later sold to the USA. In December 2021, the classic returned to Germany and was restored down to the last detail by a specialist company so that it looks as it did when it was delivered. Today, restoration orders like this are rarely placed, as the financial outlay is too high. Our vintage convertible shines in perfect Mercedes colour. We are delighted to be able to offer this example!
