Description
History of the Alfa Romeo Spider "Coda Tronca"
The first Alfa Romeo Spider, the new 105 series, was presented in 1966. The 2nd series "coda tronca" came onto the market in 1969 and was built almost unchanged until 1983. These two series are still regarded as cult convertibles today. They also combine the 4 cylinder twin-camshaft engine, which has a perfect sound beyond any doubt. A real gem that still makes Alfisti hearts beat faster today. The perfectly shaped design of the fastback was cre-ated by Pininfarina and is regarded as a timeless masterpiece. Alfa Romeo offered the ver-sions 1300, 1600, 1750 and, for the first time in the Coda Tronca, the 2-litre engine, com-bined with a precisely shiftable 5-speed gearbox, a very passable chassis and disc brakes all round. The top-of-the-range and sought-after 2-litre version accelerated from 0-100 km/ h in under 10 seconds and reached a remarkable top speed of 195 km/ h.
Vita of the Spider offered here
This Spider has been in the possession of the last German owner for almost exactly 30 years. He imported this Alfa from sunny California. The aggressive sunlight prevailing there took its toll on this vehicle. The paintwork was dull, but the body was rust-free and flawless apart from a small spot in the footwell, so that the legendary Alfa Classic Center "ACC" in Dort-mund (now Scuderia Sportiva Servizio) was commissioned to repaint this spider in its origi-nal colour "Grigio chiaro" in around 1994. The seats were also covered with black genuine leather, the engine converted to carburettor, European rev counter and speedometer in-stalled, the ugly US bumpers replaced with chrome bumpers, the beautifully shaped ATS rims fitted and much more. From 1994 to the present day, this exceptionally fast and robust Alfa Spider has been maintained and serviced by our ACC in Dortmund. Every inspection interval was meticulously adhered to, as evidenced by extensive service documentation.
The owner treated this vehicle with the utmost care and caution, only taking the “baby" out of the garage when the weather was demonstrably fine and always warming it up carefully, just as an Alfista has learnt to do. The result: the car still impresses today with its very well-kept condition, the seats look as if they had been reupholstered two months ago, the engine fires up immediately, the chassis is very good for a fastback, the brakes do their job without any problems. It's a vehicle to get in and drive. The next spring and summer are sure to come!
This Alfa Romeo currently has German registration papers including a registration certificate as a classic car. We are selling this beautiful Spider on behalf of a customer.
