Description
Austin-Healey 3000 MKIII LHD - Built in November 1966, finished in Ice Blue with blue interior and hood, the car was dispatched to Paris, France and later was exported to the United States. Quite often, US servicemen or diplomats who were still in Europe after WW2, ordered British sports cars which were later exported back with them to the USA.
The early history is relatively unknown but in the late 1970’s the car was purchased by a family in Colorado who owned the car for just over 40 years. After a period of remaining unused in the late 1990’s, the car was then recommissioned in 2003 and used sparingly until 2016 when the current owner bought the car from the US and imported it to the UK. The car was converted to UK road specification and MOT’d.
During the current ownership of 8 years, the car has completed approx. 2, 000 miles, with the current mileage reading 41, 393. It is not known if this is genuine mileage, but it is thought to be correct. During that time, the following work has been performed (mostly completed here at Bill Rawles Classic Cars):
• Waxoyl inside chassis members
• New mohair hood cover
• New Moto-Lita wood rimmed steering wheel
• New radiator & cooling fan
• Conversion to negative earth and replace dynamo with alternator
• New electronic distributor
• New hi-torque starter motor
• New front calipers, master cylinder & brake pipes
• New brake servo
• New rear dampers
• Full body re-spray (external, not bare metal)
• New battery
• New mohair hood
The car presents itself in good condition and able to be used immediately, being LHD it does suit itself to someone who is looking to do some continental touring but a RHD conversion is available and is not something to stop you from purchasing this car.
Priced competitively and open to sensible offers.
