Description
First registered in 1997 this immaculate Wood & Pickett Mini was built to their Margrave specification and ordered by a Lord of the Realm for his wife. The car is finished in Bentley Verdant green to match the then, family Bentley.
The required specification was to include air conditioning and automatic transmission. This request could be resolved easily, as both formed part of the Japanese export requirement for the then Mini Mayfair. So, a car to that specification came off the production line and went to Wood & Pickett, the renowned mini coachbuilder, to the rich and often famous. Once there the car had all the Wood & Pickett conversions as specified, many of which can be seen in the photographs. Including, but not exclusively, the full Connoly leather and walnut interior, Cobra bucket seats, W & P steering wheel, de-seamed body work, wheel arches, driving lights, (two sets) a Nokia 6110 hand free phone (working and very cutting edge in those days) W & P Superlite alloy wheels, Alcantara headlining, etc. etc
The car has recently undergone a detailed re commissioning check and full service, including the gas adjustable shockers and four new tyres have been fitted. (The old ones were as new, but being 12 years old, they were changed and they’ve certainly added to the driving pleasure too). This little gem was one of the very last of the Wood & Pickett full conversions, and we are sure that there can’t be many out there that have only covered 6000 miles during its 26 year life. She comes accompanied by an extensive history file, magazine features, original books, the two sets of keys. Everything works as it should from the extensive range of dials, to the electric windows and stacking disc player.
A time warp, very rare machine, that is absolutely on the button..!
