A Jaguar E-type roadster in its pure, original form is something very special – an automotive icon.
This one, supplied new to Jaguar Cars in New York, is factory left-hand drive.
Our car number ‘119’ is one of less than 500 OBL cars ever made during the first five months of production in 1961 The most desirable of the production e-types ‘119’ has benefitted from a former top level 100-point nut and bolt, no expense spared concours restoration c. 10-yrs ago during its time in the States resulting in a show stopping model.
Early 1961 E-type OBL cars have over 50 unique features not seen on later 61 cars, a pain staking professional restoration has retained these unique features
119 retains the all-important attributes of a very early E-type including: Flat floor, bonnet locks secured externally with a T-key, welded-in bonnet louvres made from separate sheet, a double-hinged boot lid and wing baffles spot-welded inside the bonnet, larger half shafts, and a unique rear bulkhead to the monocoque and boot floor. Its also hugely significant that 119 retains its original chassis plate.
These and another 50+ features are unique to early OBL cars which feature on car 119 as does the original chassis plate and body tag further adding to the car’s desirability and provenance.
The Gunmetal metallic paint presents exceptionally well and complemented with the originally specified mid-Blue Vaulmol leather interior by Connolly.
A black mohair hood completes the fabulous colour scheme.
‘119’ was last serviced in the summer of 2022 and has seen less than 50-miles use since.
Professionally stored and maintained in recent years, 119 is a great driver’s car that is both well sorted and can be used without fear of devaluing the car.
119 is on the button and ready to be enjoyed by its next custodian
