Description
A spectacular Aston Martin V8, one of 216 “Volante” examples ever produced with the Weber electronic fuel injection (V585 EFI) that was introduced at the New York Motor Show in January 1986 alongside the similarly updated AMV8 saloon.
The major advance was the fitting of electronically controlled sequential fuel injection system, made by Weber/ Marelli giving a power output of around 315 bhp from an unchanged 5. 3 litre displacement. As there were now no carburettors within the 'V' of the engine and correspondingly no air cleaner assembly, the overall height of the engine was reduced and thus the EFI cars have a more elegant flat bonnet with no air intake.
Factory fitted with the 3-Speed Torqueflite Chrysler automatic transmission, this 1987 LEFT HAND DRIVE car was originally delivered to the USA where it had two owners in the 17 years prior to being imported to the UK in 2004. Its third and current owner has now owned the car for the last 20 years, using it both in the UK and for summer touring in Spain. It remains a desirably low mileage example showing just 41, 000 miles (65, 800km).
Over the last 20 years it has been substantially upgraded by renowned Aston Martin specialists, Nicholas Mee & Co in the UK, including:
• A repaint in the elegant and period-correct "Jubilee Silver" colour.
• Fitting of a new dark blue outer hood.
• Removal of all US Federal modifications to return it to UK/ European specification.
• Uprated suspension and handling kit.
• Sports stainless steel exhaust.
• Fitting of rare Vantage spec ‘interim’ BBS 16-inch wheels and low profile tyres.
• Full carpet retrim in original Wilton.
• Blaupunkt Bremen Retro 80's Style Classic Stereo Bluetooth MP3/ SD/ USB DAB Radio
The car currently has a UK registration. Autostorica can take care of exporting to a third country, as well as taking care of the procedures for registering a historic vehicle in Spain.
