DESCRIPTION
A unique example in immaculate condition, Built at Fords Halewood factory this has undertaken a full back to bare metal restoration with no expense spared not to be rallied however to be enjoyed for what it is.
EXTERNAL
With the legendary original Type 49 Twim Cam body shell this particular example has had a full nut and bolt restoration with dedication in ensuring the originality remains outright. With over 500 man hours dedicated alone to ensuring the bodyworks as good as the day it left the factory. The paint finish is simply stunning in Ermine White(Colour Code AB) Having a high detail finish which also includes the underside which looks just as pristine as the outside finish. With AVO credentials to back up the originality and craftsmanship this is one special vehicle. With a simple but subtle front end consisting of gleaming wrap around quarter bumpers and the desirable full frontal chrome piped front grill housing original Cibie H4 headlamps. Badging all pristine and correctly positioned ‘Twin Cam’ sitting proudly on each front lower wing. The detailed panel lines are pin sharp and complement the attention to detail this vehicle has undertaken. All door handles sit gleaming as well as the key operated petrol filler cap. Full length bumper in chrome to the rear again gleaming as you would expect along with original glasswork throughout with the exterior rubbers sitting fresh with front and rear screen chrome pin trims glossy and bright.

With a basic but adequate interior boasting original period trim and black leather effect piped seats front and rear with perforated centres, Fixed front seats with lever control tilt working as expected, The unique carpet showing no wear due to precision fitted over mats fitted, Door panels front and rear impeccably high finish and originality maintained. The dashboard carries on the minimalistic theme but houses all you need with 6 pod dial set including tachometer, speedometer, temperature gauge, battery voltage, fuel gauge, oil temperature all working as intended. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the 1558cc Lotus Twin Cam Engine with L14 cams QED pistons lightened and balanced along with twin 40-webbers mated to a 4-speed three rail manual gearbox, Producing 135bhp with a dyno printout this languishes power in leaps and bounds and burbles in it’s very distinctive manner.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Having original steel wheels fitted with Pirelli 175/ 70 R13 Tyres all round in as new condition with chrome bright finish centre caps. Disc calliper brakes to the front and drums to the rear with diagonally split vacuum assisted braking bring you to a steady controlled stop.

A barn find back in 2008 turned this then damp in need of repair Mk1 Ford Escort Lotus Twin Cam into one of the best if not the best example out on sale today. Production Number 2106 was registered on the 2nd April 1970 and still stands the test of time today with the restoration finishing in Approx. 2011-12.
