Description
Hofmann’s have the pleasure of offering to market this truly iconic and exquisitely restored series 1 Jaguar E Type Roadster 4. 2. Finished in its original colour of Opalescent Golden Sand over beautiful Beige leather, this immaculate E Type was originally manufactured on 10th January 1966 before being supplied to its original distributer, Jaguar Cars, New York, USA.
The E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a rear-wheel drive grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a two-seater convertible “roadster”. Later model updates of the E-Type were officially designated “Series 2” and “Series 3”, and over time the earlier cars have come to be referred to as “Series 1”. The Jaguar E-Type is a British sports car that was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of beauty, high performance, and competitive pricing established the model as an icon of the motoring world. The E-Type’s 150 mph top speed, sub-7-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration, monocoque construction, disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and independent front and rear suspension distinguished the car and spurred industry-wide changes.
Having undergone a comprehensive and full nut and bolt restoration by renowned experts such as CL Classic, Revival & GB Trim, finishing in 2021, this amazing E Type delivers everything you would expect from such an iconic and classic car. The engine is beautifully smooth and very responsive, through the gears the car performs fantastically well and through the corners the ride and handling is truly effortless thanks to an enhanced braking, suspension and geometry set-up to eradicate the E Types tendency to nose dive under braking and cornering. With little or no rattles from bodywork or trim, this is truly the finest Jaguar E Type we have ever seen and really is a true drivers car and ready to move into the next stage of its fantastic history.
