Perhaps one of the most immediately recognizable of Rolls-Royce's models, the Silver Cloud was first released in April 1955. An immediate success with a design incorporating elements from the Silver Dawn and Silver Wraith, the car offered a marked improvement on both models. Buyers who were chauffeured preferred the long wheelbase version, while those who intended to drive their cars were enamored with the standard variant. Cars could be ordered with standard steel/ alloy bodies or as chassis for coach-builders and an array of options allowed further tailoring.
In 1958, the Silver Cloud II introduced a 6. 2L V8 and various quality-of-life adjustments, followed by the release of the Silver Cloud III at the end of 1962. The car was extensively updated, with revised styling featuring quad headlamps and numerous interior adjustments for improved integration of features such as power accessories and air conditioning. In addition, the standard car's weight was reduced by around 220lbs and the engine was updated to produce "perhaps 7%" more power. The last of the Silver Cloud IIIs were produced in 1966, with 2, 044 regular wheelbase Silver Cloud IIIs having been delivered. As one will expect from the brand, Silver Clouds offer a driving/ riding experience any discerning enthusiast will cherish.
The beautiful 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III featured here is finished in stunning Astral Blue over Ascot Grey leather surrounded by Burl Walnut woodwork throughout. This Rolls-Royce has remained in largely original condition and is a fabulous basis for either a sympathetic recommissioning to a driver's car or a full concours restoration. We are proud to offer what could be, after a little TLC, a superb driver-quality Silver Cloud III to the most astute investor, collector, or enthusiast who understands and appreciates this iconic model!
