Description
Ford Escort XR3. This car was imported from South Africa a while back, UK registered and sold on. The owner done a few bits to it but has recently traded it back in against another car. Its a very good solid shell which doesnt look like its been welded. It does start and run but will need mechanical work to get it on the road. We have the full UK V5 here.
Body - Early XR3 shell with two bolt type strut tops. Good solid car. Original battery tray, floors, sills etc. Paintwork is very presentable. Bit of microblistering on passenger side on lower quarter and door. Quarter bumpers are wrong. They are just the standard type and not proper XR3 ones.
Mechanics - Car does start and run. It has a brand new carb fitted. Engine sounds a bit tappety and feels a bit under powered pulling away so will need investigated. Gearbox is a little noisy. Clutch and brakes are ok. Underneath someone has spent a bit on new / refurbing suspension arms. springs, shocks.
Interior - Seats are OK . Door cards have speaker holes. Headlining and carpets are fine. Has the hard type dash fitted rather than the original soft one
Wheels - Refurbished UK spec XR3 Cloverleaf Alloys with good tyres.
This is a good solid car which with a bit work will make a really nice one. Despite some of the classics dropping in price I believe the 80s car are still strong and climbing in price.
