“A car for speed and space” Lord Strathcarron, The Field 1970
In May 2015 the current owner purchased LBY 760K from the previous owner who lived in Cornwall, at this point the car was wearing Metallic Grey coachwork which needed some TLC so it was decided a full bare metal respray would be carried out. The late Martin Barnes of American Car Care Centre in Kings Cross, London was a highly regarded Bristol restorer carried out large amounts of restoration work right away, works carried out include:
New Alternator
Upgraded radiator with modern cooling fans
Heater Matrix replaced
Engine & Gearbox coolers fitted
New master cylinder
Corrosion removed
Engine stripped
Edelbrock aluminium cylinder head, inlet manifold and carburettor fitted
High torque starter motor
All Brightwork restored
Woodwork restored
Following ACCS completing the mechanical and structural work, the car was taken to South West Colour, well known paint shop located in Avonmouth, Bristol. Having painted plenty Bristol’s in the past including Sir George White’s Bristol 410, LBY 760K was in good hands. 2014 Aston Martin Sky Fall Silver was chosen which has a lovely Aluminium fleck which really shows on a summers day. It was decided a Webasto sunroof would be fitted also.
Now completed to the owner’s satisfaction it is without surprise the first Bristol Owners Club Concours d’ elegance the car entered it won “best in class” & “best in show”!
