Description
CKL are delighted to offer this Jaguar MKII 3. 8 RHD, with under 16, 000 miles on the clock.
The Jaguar MKII made its debut in 1959 and quickly rose to ‘car of the year’ status, given the options, it’s easy to see why. The MKII offered 3 engine options: 2. 4, 3. 4 or 3. 8, with the 3. 8 being the fastest and most desirable production saloon car of the time.
Due to its high speed and acceleration capabilities, the MKII became highly popular with the Police Force and subsequently with those attempting to get away from said force. It wasn’t long before the MKII would find itself on circuits around the UK and would capture the attention of period racers such as Graham Hill and Jack Sears.
The MKII on offer features black exterior paintwork and a red leather interior with wood dash paneling, all in wonderful condition. In 1988, restoration began to bring the MKII back to the standard on offer today. During the restoration, the 3. 8 engine and gearbox (with overdrive unit) have been completely refreshed. The decision was also made to install power steering, chrome wire-wheels, new tyres, a new fuel tank and various body detailing. The recorded mileage prior to restoration was just 5, 705 miles.
Subject to great care and dry storage over the years, preserving its everyday usability on today’s roads. This fine example combines speed with style exceptionally well, and should be highly considered by all classic car enthusiasts.
