Description
In 2007, when Aston Martin decided to shoe-horn its largest V12 engine into its smallest chassis, for the V12 Vantage RS, the motoring press did rather take notice. The base car, the V8 Vantage had become the darling of the industry, offering first-time Aston owners, and those more acquainted with the brand a truly brilliant package, but the one thing it lacked, was a massive honking great engine.
It wouldn’t however be until 2009, when Aston announced the production of the V12 Vantage. The new production car received, an abundance of praise from the motor press, with Car Magazine stating One of the best Aston Martins ever sums things up pretty nicely.
This particular example is a 2013 model, unusually supplied by Aston Martin Works. Externally, you’ll find the car is finished in Morning Frost White, a pearlescent shade which accentuates the car’s wide hips. The paintwork is in excellent condition and benefits from a full car PPF protection, fitted by Topaz Detailing in London. The 19” 5-double-spoke Diamond cut wheels, are in excellent condition and are wrapped in a matching set of Michelin PS4S tyres.
Step inside and you’re greeted with a stunning interior, Onyx black leather extends across the seats, centre console and dashboard whilst contrasting aluminium switch gear adorns the cabin. There are no rips or tears and limited wear, in part thanks to the car covering just 18, 250 miles but also a testament to its owner's maintenance, this particular V12 has been gifted some key upgrades to improve the ownership and driving experience. One of which is found in the cabin, a special milled throttle pedal to allow for greater control during heal-and-toe shifts.
The other upgrades you’ll notice them when you fire up the 6-litre V12, and pop the bonnet. A couple of key exhaust upgrades have been fitted by the team at Aston Martin Works, firstly the secondary-cats have been removed and a valved exhaust, giving you the driver the control to have it loud when you want it, and quiet when you don’t. In the engine bay, you’ll find no leaks and no damage from the mammoth V12, and the 6-speed manual gearbox rows through the cogs smoothly, and free from any nasty crunching or grinding.
Few cars captivate the motoring press and even fewer continue to do so 15 years on from their release, the V12 Vantage does so for good reason. It’s a simple package, a big engine in a small car, but executed incredibly well. It’s a usable car, that you can enjoy for continental jaunts or drives through the countryside, listening to the radio, or to 12-cylinders singing.
The V12 Vantage is and will continue to be a poster car for many, this particular example, is surely one of the best available. Having been supplied new and consistently maintained by Aston Martin Works you’ll have a tough time finding a better example and it benefits from those choice upgrades and an excellent colour combination.
