PANTHER DE VILLE No 1 Panther Cars were established at the old Brooklands race track near Byfleet, Surrey, and despite financial problems the company decided to build the gargantuan De Ville powered by a Jaguar V12 engine. Finished in black over silver with an Everflex electric sun roof the car starts, stops, and steers effortlessly, and wafts along in the grand style. The essence of the design bears a strong resemblance to the 1920's Bugatti and Delage cars. These beautifully hand built cars were more expensive than a R-R Shadow when new and consequently very few were built - somewhere between 30 and 60, but the exact number is not known. These full aluminium bodied cars measured L7 feet 6 inches long, and became favoured by royalty and celebraties, including the Sultan of Bruni, Elton John, Kenny Rogers, Rock Hudson, and Oliver Reed. This 197 5 DE Ville is the very first car that was built and therefore must have been on display at many exhibitions. The car has been with it's present owner for 30 years, and has a recorded only 26000 miles, which we believe to be genuine. The car is UK registered and is type approved for the USA. Depending on what the new owner wants from this car, it will need some attention to the aesthetics, it is not a concourse car and is not sold as such. Please call for more details.
