First registered 13th May 1965, this fantastic Sunbeam Tiger is a high-performance V8 version of the British Rootes Group's Sunbeam Alpine roadster, designed in part by American car designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby and produced from 1964 until 1967. Shelby had carried out a similar V8 conversion on the AC Cobra, and hoped to be offered the contract to produce the Tiger at his facility in America. Rootes decided instead to contract the assembly work to Jensen at West Bromwich in England, and pay Shelby a royalty on every car produced.
This is a car we know well as we sold it to the previous owner approximately 5 years ago, Finished in Alpine White and Red leather interior and fitted with the following :- 14" Minilite wheels, Le Mans Steel bonnet, 4 speed manual, Stainless Steel sports exhaust, Uprated springs & gas shocks, Uprated brakes, 289 Hipo 4. 7 litre V8 engine, (circa 280bhp).
The original Mk1 Sunbeam Tiger was fitted with the 260 cu in (4. 3 L) Ford V8 Engine, This car has been fitted with the later Sunbeam MK2 to a 4. 7 Litre V8 Engine Circa 280bhp which encompasses the best of both, the looks and styling of the MK1 with the engine and uprated power of the MK2, a perfect combination.
This Sunbeam is supplied with extensive history file which has numerous invoices for a works carried out over the years including a complete engine rebuild and restoration circa 1998 to 2001.
This car presents in stunning condition throughout. It sounds and drives fantastically. Supplied with a tonneau cover, a fitted car cover, jack tools.
