Description
The R 100 R (also called Roadster) came onto the market in 1991. The machine was actually the first of the post-K series boxers to be optically and technically revised. To emphasize the sporty character of this motorcycle, a wide (140 x 80) rear tire was mounted, the new paralever suspension system was used and this motorcycle had wire wheels. The saddle was in two colors and the frame was light gray, which made it look lighter and more prominent. The popular “round” valve covers that BMW had already abolished in 1976 (last seen on the / 6 series), but which had since been fitted to the / 7 models by many customers, were back. The R 100 R is considered the introduction to the end of the air-cooled boxers; BMW must already have been developing something completely new, the air/ oil-cooled boxers of the R 1100 series. The R 100 R was equipped with the Sekundär Air System, with which air was pumped just behind the exhaust valve to achieve a kind of "afterburning" and therefore cleaner exhaust gases. With 20, 589 units sold, this model was a great success, possibly because customers knew that the chance of a “new old boxer” was becoming small.
This boxer engine is almost in original, new condition. This is partly because the mileage is only 7, 000 km. There are two suitcases included that are also almost new. All booklets are included. Come take a look at this new engine and you will be amazed!
