Jaguar XJS HE V12 Auto: 2 Owners/ Warranted Miles
The Jaguar XJS produced between 1975 and 1996 is the epitome of the luxury grand tourer. The original V12 delivers outstanding performance but the earlier cars' thirst for petrol was legendary, and Jaguar introduced the HE (High Efficiency) model in 1981.
The later HE models benefited from the “Fire Ball” combustion chamber increasing power to 295hp and exterior & interior upgrades including the trademark “Starfish” alloys with burr elm inserts to the dashboard and door capping.
The car delivered a “flying carpet” ride with the torque of the engine propelling you down the road with the “Pace & Grace” promised by Jaguar while the glorious V12 soundtrack completes a truly exceptional driving experience.
On the 9th June 1987 Mr. Graham Oliver attended British Car Auctions in order to purchase his next company car and what an excellent choice he made. He bid lot number A103X, a 1984 Nightfire Red XJS HE, up to £13, 200 - clearly a man with taste who also happened to own the company that would pay the fuel bill for his everyday transport.
Mr Oliver retained his faithful Jaguar when he retired from the family business and has, after 37 years of ownership, only relinquished his beloved XJS because of a house move and resulting loss of storage.
The XJS has always been maintained properly with regular servicing. In 2016/ 17 the car was recommissioned after a period in storage and today presents extremely well having covered a warranted 72k miles from new. The Nightfire Red with Oatmeal interior trim (with the original radio/ cassette) is a stunning combination that takes you straight back to the 1980’s.
On the road the car does not disappoint. She starts instantly, drives superbly with super smooth gear changes and the engine is utterly addictive - it is a genuine continental GT.
These cars have been undervalued for years and most have been poorly maintained and unloved. Our example has always been cherished and it is one of the most original, best driving examples you could wish to own.
The secret is now out, and prices of good cars have risen sharply over the last 18 months. We recommend early viewing to fully appreciate this stunning Gentleman’s Express.
