Description
History:
This 1957 example is an MG A from the first series. Between 1955 and 1959, around 58, 750 of this roadster were produced and sold successfully worldwide. Ten years ago, Goodtimer acquired this example from a Danish specialist company in outstandingly restored condition and equipped with the 95 hp 1. 8 litre B engine. From 2014 to 2024, the roadster was regularly driven and excellently maintained by a classic car enthusiast. A perfect example with low maintenance costs and a fresh veteran's inspection.
The MG A has a cockpit to fall in love with, with high-quality leather seats and an original MotoLita wooden steering wheel. Even after 10 years and 15, 000 kilometres driven since the full restoration, everything still looks almost as good as new. The 95 hp 1. 8-litre engine from the MG B has an easy time with the 900-kilo roadster. This option was gladly made during a restoration, which means that this engine has only covered 15, 000 kilometres.
Bodywork and paintwork:
The bodywork is robust and undamaged. The gaps are still very good 10 years after the restoration. The paintwork shows few signs of wear and is very well maintained. Extensive paint preservation was carried out in 2023.
Interior:
The leather seats are still as good as new today. You can tell that this MG A has been cared for through and through.
Engine and mechanics:
This MG A has neither a service requirement nor a maintenance backlog. With a fresh MOT, as-new tyres and in technically immaculate condition, the buyer can look forward to a lively and reliable roadster.
Chassis:
The chassis is original and only reinforced at the rear axle to give the slightly wider track the right stability. The MG A is often underestimated, as it is surprisingly stable when cornering.
Driving experience:
Feel like you're in the 50s, with the wind around your ears, a crisp engine noise and endless charm. That's driving an MG A - regardless of the engine or braking system.
Recommendation:
The MG A is a true classic in every respect. And it is the cheapest version of a sports car with a classy hip swing. If a MAG has a history of care, has been regularly driven and maintained and is fresh from the MOT, then you can't go wrong in actively accompanying the classic car world.
