Description
The Porsche 997 is the sixth generation of the Porsche 911 sports car manufactured and sold by the German automobile manufacturer Porsche between 2004 (as Model Year 2005) and 2013.
The Turbo derivative went on sale in late 2006 making our car a very early example.
The 997 was an evolution of the preceding 996, with the most significant changes being interior and exterior styling, the most notable being the replacement of the "fried egg" headlamps used on the 996 with the classic "bug eye" units and slightly increased power; however, the car is technically very similar to its predecessor albeit with many revisions.
Car and Driver magazine estimated that when equipped with the PDK transmission, the Turbo should be capable of accelerating from 0–97 km/ h (0–60 mph) in three seconds.
The 997 received mostly positive reviews from the worldwide motoring press; even British motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson, a known detractor of Porsche cars, noted that the 997 will make love to your fingertips and stir your soul."
Our car was registered 28. 09. 2006 by Porsche centre Nottingham and remained within their care for over 6 years. The car then moved further north and found a home in Malton North Yorkshire where Specialist Porsche technicians looked after it for a further 6 years or so the last of which was carried out by RPM - a well known Porsche specialist in Knaresborough. A further 2 services have been carried out the last of which was in September 2023 at 39872 miles by Porschetech in Hertfordshire which was a Major service with the drive belt replaced. A nice bill of £1500 for the last keeper. The car also had its current advisory free MOT completed at the same time.
These cars had a few very common issues and when doing our checks have found these items have been done already!
Coolent pipes and radiators - most common fault was corroded coolant pipes and failing rads.. In July 2020 these were all replaced at a cost of £2700 by RPM.
Air conditioning condenser(s) - more minor in nature at £360 but has been replaced.
Lastly a handful of cars suffered worn turbo chargers but this car has zero smoke and been properly maintained.
This is a properly sorted car and available now at SCC Leeds the details below
