Description
Ford announced its all-new Escort MkIII in 1980, the new car being the first Escort to feature front-wheel-drive and a transverse-mounted engine.
They were great handling cars in their day and the CVH engine proved extremely reliable and economical.
This car was registered in 05/ 1984 and would have been on special order, as it is Automatic (made in Germany).
This splendid low-mileage MkIII Escort 1. 6 Ghia is now 40 years old, with only one former keeper. It has done less than 65, 000 miles from new (averaging approx. 1, 600 per year).
The car has received light restoration work and has had a Weber Carburettor, with manual choke, fitted for reliability. The welding has been done to a high standard. It has also been cleaned and under sealed.
It has had a new timing kit and water pump.
Recently MOT'd with no advisories and will be tax and MOT exempt from next year.
This is a much loved and recognisable Classic, often drawing admiring looks and conversation. Back in the day, the 1. 6 Ghia was more desirable than the 1. 3 Ghia and had the same engine as the XR3.
The car still drives really well, with smooth gear changes and can be used every day.
