Description
The MGB is a two-door sports car manufactured and marketed from 1962 until 1980 by the British Motor Corporation later the Austin-Morris division of British Leyland, as a four-cylinder, soft-top sports car. It was announced and its details first published on 19 September 1962. The MGB was one of the first cars to feature controlled crumple zones designed to protect the driver and passenger in a 30 mph impact with an immovable barrier (200 ton).
The roadster was the first of the MGB range to be produced. The body was a pure two-seater; a small rear seat was a rare option at one point. By making better use of space the MGB was able to offer more passenger and luggage accommodation than the earlier MGA. The suspension was also softer, giving a smoother ride, and the larger engine gave a slightly higher top speed. The four-speed gearbox was an uprated version of the one used in the MGA with an optional (electrically activated) overdrive transmission.
This MGB roadster was nicely restored to show quality standards. The paint finish is high luster and panel gaps are excellent. All components including drivetrain, suspension, and electrical have been rebuilt or replaced. The interior was replaced using all original style trim and seats were upgraded with leather Miata. A high quality Nardi wood steering wheel was installed. The engine rebuild included using original twin carbs, factory oil cooler, and electronic ignition system. The transmission was also rebuilt and it shifts as new. It has a tan convertible top, black boot cover, original jack, wrench, bag, and owners handbook. We have serviced & inspected this iconic British roadster and find it to be one of the best driving B's we have driven!
