Description
In 1968 it became clear that the styling of the TR series was lagging behind the competition and it was decided to drastically change the appearance. Michelotti was still employed by the company but was so burdened with other designs that another design agency had to be consulted. The decision was made to choose the Karmann company in Osnabrück, Germany. Not so obvious, but it turned out to be a golden move. Karmann managed to completely restyle the car with a minimal budget. The basic bodywork remained the same as well as the doors and the windscreen.
Changes were made:
Bonnet, Rear hatch, Mudguards front and rear, Front, Wider wheels.
Mechanically everything remained the same as with the TR 5, including the chassis, which has its origins in the chassis of the Triumph TR4A. The car was a great success, especially on the important export market of America and was sold well until the end of 1976 in a circulation of: 91, 850 units.
This car here is a partially Europeanized TR6. Two Solex carburetors have been added, which increased the engine's power from 105 to approximately 120 HP! Furthermore, this Triumph is still very original and the paint shows some crackle. However, it drives very well. It brakes, shifts and steers perfectly!
It has a fantastic black interior and the wooden dashboard is still perfect.
A beautiful TR6 for a competitive price.
