This 1957 BMW 501 V8 was owned by a true enthusiast and bought the car out of fascination for its technical design. This BMW was fully restored and overhauled and therefore, the overall condition is very good with correct details. The history includes personal notes from the previous owner and even describes the car’s history. A very interesting and lovely car.
Fully restored and overhauled
This stylish time machine was restored with factory specification in mind. In 2016, the BMW V8 club rated this car very positively with 56 out of 60 points. That probably illustrates the quality of this car. The paint was professionally repainted in 2012 in a very tasteful color combination of gray with a white roof. The quality of the paint is very good, and the car shines beautifully and shows minimal signs of use after restoration. The chrome parts on the car are in great condition too. In the interior, we find reupholstered seats with the correct materials which look fantastic. The removable transistor radio is a great detail and period correct. The inside of this BMW oozes 1950s charm, and the red with white colors contrast beautifully with the exterior. Overall, the attention to detail in the interior is very good and all the instruments are in great shape. The 2. 6-liter V8 engine runs smoothly and has that distinctive exhaust note that makes us enthusiastic. During the restoration process, the engine was completely overhauled to ensure maximum reliability. Furthermore, the gearbox and rear axle were overhauled as well and the car was modified with electronic ignition together with an alternator for enhanced performance and reliability.
Was sold new in Sweden — Lovely personal notes from the previous owner
This BMW was delivered in Sweden in 1957 as an executive car and stayed there until 2024. The paperwork includes some notes of the previous owner, which shows the enthusiasm for this BMW: “The BMW and I have experienced everything from the complete restoration to trips across the continent. It is time for someone else to enjoy the company.” This car also comes with the original manual and the original warranty inspection booklet.
