1962 MGA 1600 Mk2 Coupe
The MGA was launched to considerable acclaim in 1955. Replacing the TF model, this new car had striking, curvaceous styling, looking every inch the purposeful roadster. Power came from the 1500cc BMC ‘B’ Series engine which was tuned to develop 72bhp.
A power increase came in late 1959 with the introduction of the 1600 model. Later in 1961 a further update saw a 1622cc engine and revisions to the grille styling and rear lamps
1956 saw a fixed head Coupe version introduced which was particularly appealing, offering winding windows and lockable doors. The Coupe model remained available right through until production of the MGA ceased in 1962.
Presented here is a late model of the 1600 Mk2 Coupe. Restored to an excellent standard during 2020/ 11, it benefits from a 5-speed gearbox and has chrome wire wheels and luggage rack - a most useful addition given the modest boot area. She has only been used sparingly since the restoration.
Coupe models are comparatively rare compared to the roadster and have a special appeal to those seeking the joys of an MGA with a touch of luxury.
