Triumph is one of the most iconic and revered names in the history of motorcycling. Established in Coventry in 1885, by the start of the 1900s the company had made its first motorcycle beginning a continuous run of production under various ownership until its eventual closure in 1983 before its rebirth in the early 1990s. In 1937 the Edward Turner-designed Speed Twin was released launching a range of Triumph twins that went on to epitomize British motorcycles in the post-war years. Many believe the various Bonneville, Tiger and Trophy models to be the ultimate version of the classic British vertical twin with the 1973 models being the last of the Meridan made bikes before the ill fated Co-operative took over in 1974.
This 650 Tiger, being offered at no reserve, has been part of a small private collection. It is offered in what appears to be quite original and standard condition, although receipts included in the sale suggest the wheels were rebuilt in 2013 with stainless spokes and it had a £1450 overhaul in 2019 including new tyres. Stood since then it will need recommissioning before use and comes supplied with the aforementioned receipts, a genuine workshop manual, a Haynes manual and a V5C.
