This particular chassis has an extensive racing career, having finished on the podium in the British GT Championship from 2011 to 2014, the 2012 Blancpain Endurance Series Series and 24 Hours of Spa, and important victories at the Nürburgring and Spa. It was driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi and Matt Griffin, factory drivers for Ferrari, during this period campaigned by AF Corse and Mtech Racing. The current owner has driven it effectively in the Britcar Championship more recently, where it has won the 2016 GT Class 1 Championship, the 2017 and 2018 Sprint Class 1 Championships.

When the Ferrari 458 GT3 was introduced in 2011, it replaced the F430 GT3, which had won more than 80 class championships from 2006 to 2013. Similar to its predecessor, it was designed from the ground up as a racing vehicle and constructed in association with Michelotto Automobili, the factory-backed company behind the creation of the F40 and 288 GTO, among many other racing Ferraris.
