Introduced in 1985, the Ferrari 328 GTB was similar to the preceding 308 GTB apart from its 3. 2-litre engine. Representing the second generation of Ferrari's V8-engined road cars, the entirely new 308 GTB had debuted at the Paris Salon in 1975. In 1985, the 308 was superseded by the mechanically similar but larger engined 328 GTB. By increasing both bore and stroke, the quattrovalvole engine's capacity was raised to 3, 186cc which, together with a higher compression ratio, revised pistons, and an improved Marelli engine management system, lifted maximum power to 270bhp. Top speed was raised to 263km/ h with the sprint to 100km/ h covered in a fraction over 5. 5 seconds. On the outside, the elegant simplicity of Pininfarina's original 308 had been diluted somewhat but its underlying beauty, though, could not be disguised. "In our book, this is still the most beautiful of all contemporary exotics - a gorgeous looking car," declared Motor magazine. The 328 GTB/ GTS continued in production until 1989, by which time almost 22, 000 308/ 328s of all types had been sold, making the model the most commercially successful Ferrari of all time.
One of just 1, 344 examples of the 328 GTB built, this sought-after first generation, pre-ABS, EU-example was delivered new via Garage Francorchamps in Belgium (original sticker still in place). It is one of very few delivered in Blu Medio Metallizato and was ordered new with the optional (and expensive) Cartier dark red full leather interior as most important feature. Fitted with correct 'hollow' wheels for pre-ABS examples, a stainless-steel sport exhaust and the optional black vinyl roofspoiler. The Ferrari subsequently moved from Belgium to a collector in Paris, France, who owned a Ferrari 456GT in the exact same colour combination. He had the car serviced with Pozzi in France at in 2006 (44, 571 kms) and 2007 (57, 000 kms). The current owner bought the GTB around 18 years ago directly from the Parisian collector and has cherished it over the years travelling close to 10, 000 kilometres with the car. The Ferrari is presented in largely original condition (it has been partially resprayed) with an impressively beautiful original interior. The car has been freshly serviced and the cam belts changed - in September this year with 65, 500 kilometres recorded. Ready to be enjoyed by its next fortunate custodian, this wonderful Ferrari 328 GTB comes with Belgian registration documents, its original pouch and owner's manual and numerous invoices for services carried out. A replacement service book is offered with the car. GTBs have become increasingly sought after in recent years, especially in distinctive colour schemes such as this.
