Description
We have a truly stunning 1965 Mustang Fastback. This Mustang started its life leaving the Ford factory in Dearborn, Michigan, in early 65. Its delivery was made on April 8th to the Ford dealer in Denver. The body colour from the door data plate was Silver Smoke Grey Metallic with white crinkle vinyl trim. It still maintains this similar colour scheme; however, it has been fully restored to how we see it today. It was also a genuine C code V8 .
The Mustang arrived on our shores in 2007 and has been adored by its custodians since then. We have looked after the car for several years, and in 2020, we upgraded the C Code 289 engine to a new 302 V8 engine and a new Tremec 5-speed gearbox. Since these upgrades, the Mustang has only travelled a mere 2, 800 miles.
The bodywork is in outstanding condition, with the smoke grey coachwork and the added fully painted and lacquered Le Mans white stripes. A memory stick for the bodywork restoration comes with the Mustang, showing its back to metal respray. It sits on 15” American Racing torque thrust alloy wheels with grey five-spokes. Perhaps you have noticed the upgraded power disc brake set-up peeping through the front wheels. It also has upgraded power steering with a more modern steering rack. GT extras include the twin front driving lamps and the rear exhaust exits through the rear valance. Under the bonnet, you will find the V8 302 Ford engine we supplied, an electric fan, and a larger alloy radiator, which keeps everything nice and cool.
The seats are a lighter colour, which contrasts nicely with the exterior. The dials are a new addition from classic Instruments, retaining the period look throughout the dashboard. The air conditioning system is a modern retro model, finished in chrome. The entire interior has also been restored.
Due to the upgrades this Mustang has, including rear traction bars and rear anti-roll bar, the handling and drive are among the best we have driven, and of course, the V8 burble sounds magnificent, standing still or going up the manual gearbox to fifth.
The quality of this Mustang has brought various wins at shows, and it has been featured in several magazines, copies of which are in the two large history files. This Mustang has to be the best 65 available in this price range. All the upgrades that one would like have been added, and it is ready to take on a European tour or go out to win the local car show!
