Description
Meet Bluebelle. A lovely LHD 13 Window Deluxe, first registered in 1967 and lived in the dry state of California.
Through its history, we know it was bought by Mr King of Ohio. Who stripped her to fully restored and he found absolutely no rust anywhere. Simply faded original paint.
Unfortunately, he ran out of time, but luckily Dave Fritz of The Split Van Centre in Surrey, England, then bought it as a project for himself.
He imported into the UK and whilst back in his workshop, a marketing man from French Connection (FCUK) was there buying another bus for a marketing photoshoot.
He asked if Bluebelle could be finished in time and a deal was struck.
Dave prepped and resprayed the body in its original L 680 cumulus white over L 360 sea blue and still looks lovely today.
New rubber seals, headlining, bumpers and parts were fitted.
She then appeared in an massive advertising campaign for FCUK.
Once the campaign was over she was put up for sale at an asking price of just £9, 000, back in 2004 and within 24hours Martin and Lorry Quinn, viewed, fell in love and did the deal at the full asking price, beating lots of other interested parties.
Over the next few weeks they set about removing the basic interior and creating their own dream space.
After doing wax rust prevention, new steering joints, new starter motor, insulating the side panels against noise moisture. She now has American oak headlining with sunken 12v led lighting. In has underslung fresh and grey water tanks, allowing you to camp in the most sensitive areas. The cabinets contain, a Smev sink, Smev hob, an oven and grill (Rarely found in a camper) and ample storage.
A portable 12v/ 240v/ gas fridge sits within the interior, but can be used externally if required.
The rear seat converts into a 3/ 4 width bed and a brand new Rusty Lee rock n roll bed is currently on order and will be included.
Blubelle has an RCBO protected 240v mains hook up, with a 10m lead. There's a removable table, as seen in the photos, to allow seating for 4 . There's also a drive away awning with the camper to give you a little extra space.
She has a leisure battery with split relay charging system installed. A fire suppression system in the engine bay , together a an extinguisher for extra piece of mind and a very good sound system.
A 3 bow classic Westfalia style roof rack completes the outside deluxe trim.
Blubelle runs a 1500 cc engine and runs completely standard height, which drives beautifully.
Lastly staying right on top of taking care of their pride and joy, Blubelle is having both batteries replaced, alternator and a reconditioned steering box from AH Schofields.
She been so well loved , which is plain to see and is on the market for £32, 750.
